Made from thick greyboard wrapped in printed or textured paper, they feel solid in the hand, protect what is inside and are often kept long after the product is used. Rigid Box Styles
- Lid and base: a separate lid that lifts off a base, the classic luxury box.
- Magnetic closure: a hinged flap with a hidden magnet for a smooth, satisfying close.
- Drawer boxes: a tray that slides out of an outer shell.
- Book style boxes: opens like a book, often used for sets and launches.
- Collapsible rigid boxes: fold flat for storage and shipping, then pop into shape.
Inserts and Interiors
Foam, velvet, paperboard or moulded inserts hold each item in place. Printing inside the lid or on the tray adds a message or pattern that customers see when they open the box.
Wraps and Finishes
The outer paper can be printed in full colour or chosen in a textured, coloured stock. Gold or silver foil, embossing, debossing, spot UV and soft-touch lamination create a premium, tactile finish.
When to Choose a Rigid Box
Choose rigid boxes when perceived value matters more than packaging cost: luxury products, gift sets, influencer kits and corporate gifts. For everyday retail items, a folding carton is usually more economical.
